Athenaeum
About the Club
Athenaeum is the Political Science and MUN club of NIT Trichy. Athenaeum was established by a group of individuals passionate about political science, current affairs, and the concept of Model United Nations. It conducts and participates in South Indian MUN circuits on behalf of the National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli.
We provide students a non-partisan platform to discuss and debate current social and political issues within the campus, state, country, and the world. We also conduct various events to create opportunities for students to learn about current affairs and to increase the overall campus engagement in the field of political science.
Events
IntraMun: We conduct MUN exclusively for students of NIT-Trichy to inculcate a MUN culture in our campus.
Pressing Matters: Pressing Matters provides a platform for people to express their views and solutions to existing worldly issues in writing or video format.
Panel Discussions: Panel discussion facilitates a healthy conversation without competition and the need for representation.
In addition to these events, we also represent NIT-Trichy and participate in various MUNs.

We want students interested in discussing current socio-political issues of the world, country, and the campus. Inductions consist of multiple rounds where only your interest in politics and current affairs matters and prior MUN experience is not required.
We induct for the following teams:
1. Delegation - Active participation in MUNs conducted all around the world. Attend UN conferences, discuss geopolitical, socio-economic, and climate-related issues. Increase political participation by conducting regulated debates and discussions.
2. Research - Conduct surveys and identify problems of the student community. Analyze problems to find policy-based solutions. Take up projects and conduct events that help the student community. Study social, economic, and political issues around the world and create research articles.
3. Content and Design - Ideate and create politically relevant content and social activities that increase student engagement. And create relevant digital illustrations based on political climates around the world. Make posters, logos, and banners for events/social media content.
