AutoCAD is a commercial computer-aided design (CAD) and drafting software application. Computer-aided design (CAD) is the use of computers (or workstations) to aid in the creation, modification, analysis, or optimization of a design. CAD software is used to increase the productivity of the designer, improve the quality of design, improve communications through documentation, and to create a database for manufacturing. Designs made through CAD software are helpful in protecting products and inventions when used in patent applications.

Fusion360 is a cloud-based CAD/CAM tool for collaborative product development. Fusion 360 enables exploration and iteration on product ideas and collaboration within a distributed product development team. Fusion 360 combines organic shapes modelling, mechanical design and manufacturing in one comprehensive package.

Autodesk, Inc. is an American multinational software corporation that makes software products and services for the architecture, engineering, construction, manufacturing, media, education, and entertainment industries. It is the developer of both AutoCAD, Fusion360.

Getting an Autodesk educational account enables a student to get all their design software packages for free of cost (until the student passes out from university). You can use your webmail to get an Autodesk student license and download the required packages.
