This section contains detailed information about the procedures to be followed to procure various essential certificates such as Bonafide Certificate, Transcript, and duplicates of Degree Certificate, TC, etc. For general instruction view this page.

Certificate Use of the Certificate
Bonafide Certificate A Bonafide Certificate is a certificate issued by an organization to certify that a particular person belongs to that organization. This certificate can be used as ID proof for applying for scholarships, passports, visa applications, etc.
Bonafide Certificate with Residence Proof A Bonafide Certificate with Residence Proof is a certificate issued by an organization to certify that a particular person belongs to that organization and resides in the specified location. This certificate can be used as ID proof as well as Address proof for applying for scholarships, passports, visa applications, etc.
Medical Certificate A Medical Certificate or doctor's certificate is a written statement from a physician or another medically qualified health care provider which attests to the result of a medical examination of a patient. It can serve as a sick note or evidence of a health condition.
Rank Card Rank Card is issued by the college to certify the rank of the student among the students of a batch in the department.
Grade Card Grade Card consists of the grades for all the courses that the particular applicant has taken during the specified semester.
Transcript A Transcript Certificate is a definite record of your imprints or evaluations that has been produced by your current or previous college. It includes the complete record of all the subjects studied by the students in his/her academic session along with marks or grades respectively.
Provisional Certificate Provisional Certificate is granted to students on behalf of the original certificate who passes the University or Board Examination, and it certifies that you have undergone the education mentioned in the certificate.
Original Certificate Original Certificate(s) retained with the institute will be given only at the time of leaving the institute on completion/discontinuing the course on the provision of NO DUES certificate. However, only for a specific genuine purpose the original certificate(s) will be issued temporarily, provided an undertaking is given by the student that the certificate(s) will be returned immediately after the purpose is met.
Degree Certificate (Duplicate) A Degree Certificate is issued to the students after they have completed their graduation/master’s/post graduation or degree in a particular course. This certificate can be used as a degree to apply for jobs or any other higher education.
Transfer Certificate (Duplicate) Transfer Certificate is the college leaving certificate a student need if he/she is changing their college or taking admission to any other college.
Consolidated Statement Of Grades (CSoG) (Duplicate) A Consolidated marksheet is a compilation of marks obtained in all the semesters secured by a student.
No Objection Certificate (Intern) / (Higher) NOC shows no objection to the particular person and purpose. It is necessary while applying for internships, visa, or during postgraduate admission.
AICTE Recognition Certificate AICTE is the statutory body and the national-level council for technical education in the country. AICTE Recognition Certificate will certify NIT-Trichy is a recognized member of AICTE.

Academic Procedures

National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli(formerly Regional Engineering College) was established as a joint venture of the Government of India and the Government of Tamil Nadu in 1964 to produce world-class engineers who will cater to the growing technological needs of the nation. National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli now offers ten under-graduate courses and twenty six postgraduate courses in various disciplines of Science, Engineering and Technology besides Ph.D. programs in all the departments. Admission to Undergraduate Programs is based on +2 / other Qualifying Examination and in the Joint Entrance Examination, JEE (Main). Admissions are open for Foreign Nationals / Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs) / Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) under Direct Admission of Students Abroad (DASA) Scheme.

Complaint Registration

National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli offers a safe environment for students. Students may raise any complaint or issues that they may face to the concerned authorities. The institute does not tolerate any instance of ragging, sexual harassment in the campus. Ragging is a Criminal and Non-Bailable offence, punished by dismissal from the Institute, fine of Rs 10,000/- and imprisonment upto two years. General complaints such as electrical or civil complaints can also be lodged by following the procedure given.

Auditorium, Hall Bookings and Facilities

The facilities and services that NITT renders to the students, faculty and staff members make it stand among the world class institutes. The top class amenities provided to the students makes the stay in NITT a memorable experience. The presence of modern facilities furthers the overall development of all the residents of NITT and also assists students and faculty members to work in a co-operative way enhancing the academic growth of NITTians.

The institute offers various amenities/ facilities for student activities such as swimming pool, Guest houses, Scient Lab, and other halls. Hostel Procedures


The institute provides excellent accommodation to its students. The students are provided with all the amenities so that their stay here becomes a worthwhile experience. There are 22 boys' and 6 girls' hostels. Together they accommodate 5797 undergraduate, postgraduate students and research scholars. One more hostel is under construction. Committees consisting of elected student representatives and Wardens manage them. Each hostel is managed by a Warden. The first year UG boys' hostels have two resident deputy wardens, while the girls' hostel has three resident deputy wardens. Each hostel was provided with a television, two DOT telephones, intercom(s), aqua guard, water cooler and kit for indoor games and outdoor games.
