Maximus
About the Club
Maximus is a close knit community of philomaths, allured by the paradoxes of mathematics. Since it's founding in 2015, Maximus has taken a profusion of initiatives to bestir the inquisitiveness for maths among the students of our college. One such initiative is conducting 'Engineering Mathematics' and 'Programming in C' classes for the first year students of our college. With the 'Maths Week' being the highlight of our mettle, we conduct events like workshops, hackathons, and several other contests throughout the year to explore the bounds of mathematics.
Events Conducted
- Inductions and Laterals Hackathon: Online Hackerrank based math contest with prizes for top 3 followed by interview rounds.
- MathBuzz, a math based contest in collaboration with the technical council. It was conducted online on Hackerrank.
- CodeMax, a competitive programming contest was conducted in collaboration with Codechef NITT chapter on Codechef platform.
- Math Week: Usually conducted in the even semester, involves 4 contests covering different aspects of mathematics.
Induction Process
Conducted in August/September every year for 2nd years and also for 3rd year as laterals entries. Involves a online hackathon/test on hackathon followed by a offline test(If the inductions are offline) . Shortlisted candidates from the online test go through 2/3 rounds of interviews after which the top will be selected.

- Teaching
The questions in the tests are based on pure maths (JEE type) along with some analytical/aptitude based puzzle type problems. In interviews questions are asked based on the preference and expertise of the student.
