Music Troupe NIT Trichy
About the Club
Music Troupe is the Music club of NIT Trichy. We are a bunch of music enthusiasts who love to come together and jam tunes, be it indie, country, electronic, Indian folk, jazz or metal. We represent NITT in inter-college music events. We have an Instagram page where we release cover songs, own compositions, and host competitions. We judge the musical events hosted by other NITT Teams/ Clubs like Archcult, AAYAAM and Aaveg.
Events Conducted
i) Riff: Solo instrumental contest.
ii) Raag: Solo singing contest.
iii) CCD Night: A musical night conducted at CCD, NITT.
iv) Barn Night: A musical night conducted at Barn Hall, NITT.
v) Crescendo: A musical night, DT and MT showcase their last performance for the academic year, intended as a farewell event for final years of DT and MT.
vi) Open Mic: MT hosted event, anyone can showcase their musical talent, band or solo, without any musical restrictions. All our conducted events are open to all students of NITT to perform/ view.
Accomplishments
1st place in War of the Bands at Dhruva'20, annual cultural fest of IIM Trichy
3rd place in Amplified at Ragam'20, annual cultural fest at NIT Calicut
3rd place and awarded best keyboardist and best bassist at InBloom, annual cultural fest of Christ University
Induction Process
Timeline: February
Note to Students: The induction process happens in 3 rounds. Induction is open to all NIT Students.
i) Preliminary Round: Students can perform any song of their choice following the guidelines provided by the club.
ii) Task Round: candidates will be given tasks specific to the profiles they have applied.
iii) PI Round: candidates will be assessed on their musical knowledge, real-time improvisation ability and similar aspects.
